Caney Valley Boys Ready for a Great Track Season
T. Pacheco
Last year the Caney Valley boys high school track team finished 5th in the State. Dalton D. is the defending 3A State Champ in the high jump and long jump. His goal this year is to high jump 7 feet and long jump 24 feet.
This year the boys track team will have over 20 members. Our goal this year is to finish in the top 3 in Class 3A. The 3A state track meet will be held in Ardmore this year on May 7th & 8th. My goal is to have 10-15 boys qualify for the state track meet. The 4 by 100 meter relay team is going to be good this year. “I think Garret B. will qualify in the discus, Logan S. in the long jump along with Dalton D.” Our relay team will consist of R.D. , Brandon K., Garon M., George P., and Logan S. “I think George P. will qualify in the 100 meter along with R.D. ” Brandon K. will be tough in the 400 and 800 meter races. Shane S., Chance N., and Van P. will throw the shot put. Two out of those three will qualify for State. Ethan S. is a state qualifier and will contend for a medal in the Pole Vault and Hurdle events. “I am glad Jordan B. came back to run the 800 Meter event.” “He will be good.” Bryce H., Garrett S. and Michael S. will run long distance races. John David M. could be tough in the 200 meter. George P. should qualify in the 200 meter race. Finally Dalton D. will win State again in the High Jump and Long Jump and should medal in the pole vault.
I’m excited about the upcoming season. We also have several other members competing for the first time this year. The high school boys will open the season April 1st at Pawhuska.
