Dr. Seuss' Birthday Celebration

by Paula Knox

March 10, 2010

Last week we celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday at the elementary.  It was a busy week and the teachers had lots of fun activities lined up.  On Monday, we had a special visit from “Cat In the Hat.”  He visited classrooms and took pictures with the students and staff.  The teachers started decorating their classroom doors for a contest.  Tuesday was hat day.  Wednesday we wore our pajamas.  Thursday was rock and roll day.  Friday we dressed up as our favorite book characters.  We had Miss Frizzle (Magic School Bus), Junie B. Jones, Amelia Bedelia, Daisy-Head Mayzie, Strawberry Shortcake, and many others roaming our halls.

The winners of our door decorating contest were:
1st Place – Mrs. Taylor’s kindergarten
2nd Place – Mrs.Lakey’s kindergarten
3rd Place – Mrs. Treece’s second grade
