COURSE
DESCRIPTION:
This one-year course will
introduce the student to proper typing procedures and assist them
in developing basic keyboarding skills. This course will
enable the student to acquire the skills needed to prepare high
school and college assignments as well as operate productively in
the workforce. These skills will be developed through a
combination of keyboarding exercises, concentration drills, timed
writings and personal and business correspondence. Emphasis
will be placed on accuracy and technique.
After the basic keyboarding skills have been acquired, the course emphasis will switch to computer applications utilizing Microsoft Office 2002. The student will create documents using Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint.
SOFTWARE:
Micro Type Pro: South-Western – a keyboarding program that consists of a tutorial, reinforcement activities, educational games, and a word processor.
Microsoft Office 2002: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
SUPPLIES:
The student must supply and
bring to class daily: Pencil or blue or black ink
pen
GRADING:
The final grade will be assigned
according to the handbook and will consist of a cumulative total of
the daily assignments, technique, quizzes, and test.
ATTENDANCE:
Students are expected to attend
all classes. If you are absent, you are responsible
for making up the assignments on your own time. Make-up work
is due according to the guidelines listed in the student
handbook. Late work will be assessed a
penalty.
