Elementary First Day of School Procedure Changes
CVE Parents:
I know there have been many questions about some of the changes for the school year. I want to provide you with a few that are being made to our First Day of School procedures. These will continue as long as we are in-person for instruction. Please understand that we have the safety of the students and staff in mind, and while these changes are a departure from our normal routines, we are focused on keeping safe and healthy and IN SCHOOL!!
Parents/Visitors will be restricted.
Arrival to school: Parents will not be allowed to walk the students to the cafeteria or to class on the first day of school or any day thereafter. If you are bringing your student(s) to school, please use the car loop to drop off your student. Do not exit your vehicle. Teachers will help unbuckle your student as needed. Your child will then walk to the cafeteria to retrieve his/her breakfast and will continue on to the classroom. We will have staff present to make sure your child gets to the correct classroom. I know parents like to take First Day of School pictures in the classroom with the teacher! We will make sure each student has a First Day of School picture with their teacher for you all to have!
Dismissal: Parents will not be allowed to walk up to the school to pick up their student(s) during regular dismissal time. If your child is a pickup/car rider, they will be dismissed at 2:55pm. Please pick up in the designated car lane pickup. PreK-1st grade pickup is in the bus loop. 2nd-5th grade pickup is in the car loop. If you have children in both the lower and upper grades, the older student will retrieve the younger student and will be picked up in the car loop. Please remain in your vehicles at all times and pull forward to the teacher on duty to keep the line moving to avoid backup into the street outside of the parking lot. Again, teachers will help them buckle up.
With the changes to arrival and dismissal, we know the process may take a little longer until we get used to this new normal, so please have patience.
I plan on having a list of changes ready to send home with all students on Wednesday. These were just the most pressing for the first days of school.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility during this time! We are very excited to get back IN school with our students!
Thanks!
Kelli Longan, CVE Principal
