Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Caney Valley Academic Teams competed at the Kremlin-HIllsdale Invitational Tournament Saturday and finished 2nd and 3rd places out of 20 top teams from the western part of the state. Team Black finished 5-1 with their only loss against tournament champions and perennial powerhouse Drummond. Team Red finished 3rd place with losses to Stillwater JV, Drummond, and CV Black. Team Black defeated Thomas 320-90, Plainview Red 250-240, Drummond White 240-220, Medford 250-180, and CV Red 240-190 before losing to Drummond 240-360. Aiden M led the team with 400 points followed by Ryan S with 300, Noah R with 110, and Logan W with 80 points.
Team Red was led by Senior Carter B with 390 points followed by Ethan F with 170, McKenna G and Caleb P with 120 apiece, and Matthew H with 40 points. The team defeated Plainview Black 320-140 but lost to Stillwater JV 240-260 and Drummond Gold 170-260 in pool play. Their cumulative score qualified them for bracket play where they defeated Oklahoma Bible Academy 260-180 and Stillwater JV 290-240. Their lone loss in bracket play was to CV Black 190-240. Coach Shannon Brown coached CV Black while Martha Ward coached CV Red.
