Froshmore State Championship
The Caney Valley Sophomore Academic Team finished 3rd place in Division 2 at the Froshmore State Championship Saturday. They finished the day 5 - 3 with victories over 4A Dickson 145-100, 4A Chisholm 100-75, 4A Pauls Valley 245-10, 3A Silo 105-65, and the CV Freshmen 120-85. Their losses were to 4A Plainview 120-165, 3A Morris 85-125, and 4A Lone Grove 105-115. The Freshmen Team finished 3-5 with victories over Chisholm 175-40, Pauls Valley 180-50, and Silo 125-115 in sudden death
Morris finished 1st place followed by 2nd Plainview, 3rd CV Sophomores, 4th Dickson, 5th Silo, 6th CV Freshmen, 7th Lone Grove, 8th Chisholm, and 9th Pauls Valley.
Leading the scoring for the Sophomores was Aiden M with 405 points. He was one of the top 8 scorers for the tournament which included schools from class A through 6A. Ryan S was next with 185 points followed by Steven B with 80 and Logan W with 30 points.
Leading the 9th grade team was Noah R with 245 points followed by Brodie H with 135, Hayden T with 115, and Ian T and Jace V with 10 points apiece.
This ends the Sophomore's season. They finished the year with a 13-4 record. The Freshmen have qualified for the OJABA state tournament where they will be defending their last year's state title.
